Ocean County Trio Inducted Into Leadership Society

The three students — from Beachwood, South Toms River, and Jackson — were among 73 from NJ and NY inducted into the national organization.

GARFIELD, NJ — Three students from Ocean County were among more than 70 from Berkeley College recently inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success during a ceremony held at the Venetian.

Erin Hall of Beachwood, Ariel Jimenez of South Toms River and Salvatore Savarese of Jackson all were inducted into the organization, which is the nation’s largest leadership honor society. Students are selected for membership based on either academic standing or leadership potential, according to a news release from Berkeley College.

"The core belief of NSLS is that dreams can be achieved with the proper support and dedicated action, and that we accomplish more together than we achieve alone,” said Dallas Reed, vice president of student development and campus life at Berkeley College. “This opportunity allows our students to tap into the greatness that exists within each of every one of them.”

Forty previously inducted members from the Berkeley College chapters were also recognized for receiving National Engaged Leadership Awards from the NSLS. The award is given to members who have attended a select amount of events and training, as well as completed at least five hours of community service.

The evening additionally recognized three members of the Berkeley College community who have made significant contributions to the academic success of Berkeley College students. LaToya Trowers-Bell, EdD, Chair, Health Services Administration, Berkeley College Larry L. Luing School of Business®, received the Excellence in Teaching Award. James Marshmon, Student Success Coordinator, Berkeley College in Newark, NJ, received the Excellence in Service to Students Award. Angela Harrington, Vice President, Communications and External Relations, Berkeley College, received Honorary Membership in the Society.

Candidacy to the NSLS is a nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction, the college news release said. The organization hosts live-streamed speaker events, allowing members to hear from and interact with national leaders, celebrities and best-selling authors such as Arianna Huffington, Carly Fiorina and Rudy Giuliani.
