TOMS RIVER, NJ — Ocean County officials will light up the county's official Christmas tree complete with hot cider, cookies and holiday music on Wednesday, Dec. 7.

The event, at the Ocean County Administration Building at 101 Hooper Ave., will include a performance of holiday classics by the Silver Bay Elementary School Chorus under the direction of Stephanie Higham, county officials said.

The tree lighting ceremony begins at 4:45 p.m. The 41-foot high Colorado spruce at the corner of Hooper Avenue and Washington Street will be adorned with more than 2,000 energy saving LED lights, courtesy of the Ocean County Department of Buildings and Grounds.
