Ortley Beach Lifeguard Tournament Postponed
Rough surf conditions have led to the postponement, officials said.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Ortley Beach Lifeguard Tournament scheduled for Tuesday, July 25, has been postponed due to rough surf conditions.
In a post on the Toms River municipal Facebook page, officials said the competition has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 1.
The competition takes place at the 4th Avenue station at 6 p.m.

Lifeguard competitions up and down the Jersey Shore are a way for the squads to keep their lifesaving skills sharp and demonstrate their prowess. They occur throughout the summer.
