Pedestrian Hit, Seriously Injured In Toms River: Police

Whittier Avenue was closed Saturday night while authorities investigated.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured Saturday night along Whittier Avenue, police said.

Details of the incident were not immediately available. Toms River Police Department spokesman Ralph Stocco confirmed a pedestrian had been struck in the area of Whittier Avenue and Keats Avenue and that the injuries were serious.

Witnesses told the Patch that the pedestrian was airlifted, and that as of 9:30 p.m. investigators remained at the scene investigating the accident.
