Pence Appearance At Ocean County GOP Event In Toms River Canceled: Report

The Indiana governor, Donald Trump's running mate, was to appear at a private event Monday, report says.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Indiana Governor Mike Pence, Donald Trump's vice presidential running mate, has canceled a Toms River appearance that was scheduled for Monday, according to a report.

Pence was supposed to appear at a private rally and event sponsored by the Ocean County Republican Organization on Monday at 6:30 p.m., according the report by the Ocean County Politics website. The report said the event was a private fundraiser with a $50 ticket price.

But that event was canceled; the website reported organizers are attributing the cancellation to scheduling conflicts on the part of Pence.

The cancellation also occurred amid a firestorm of criticism in the wake of a Washington Post reportthat released a 2005 video and audiotape of Trump making crude, sexually aggressive remarks about women.

Pence has criticized Trump's remarks, saying he was “offended by the words and actions described by Donald Trump.” He added: “I do not condone his remarks and cannot defend them.”
