Pine Beach Kindergartner Home Safely After Getting On Wrong Bus

PINE BEACH, NJ — A kindergartner got on the wrong bus Wednesday at the end of the school day but the error was quickly discovered and the student went home safely, Toms River school district officials said.

The incident happened at Pine Beach Elementary School, district communications coordinator Michael Kenny said Wednesday evening.

"Today at Pine Beach Elementary School during dismissal, a general education kindergartner boarded the wrong bus. The situation was discovered and resolved in a matter of minutes," Kenny said.

"The student in question was and is safe, and has returned home," he said in an emailed statement.

Pine Beach is one of the sending schools in the Toms River Regional School District, which had an abbreviated school day on Wednesday. The district's first full day of school is Thursday.
