Rain To 'Drench' New Jersey Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: Forecasters

Get ready for some wet weather, headed our way Wednesday through Friday and possibly even Saturday.

It's going to be wet later this week in New Jersey, with several days of rain predicted starting Wednesday.

The rain is expected to begin late on Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night across the mid-Atlantic region before expanding into the interior Northeast, Accuweather says.

"Periods of rain will drench portions of the northeastern United States from midweek through Friday," according to information from Accuweather.

Enough rain could fall during midweek to slow travel, dampen outdoor events and cause localized flooding, forecasters warn.

In New Jersey, showers and even a thunderstorm are predicted on Wednesday. On Thursday, there's another 80 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms. Forecasters predict showers on Friday and Saturday, although the likelihood goes down to a 30 percent chance of rain on Saturday.

Here is the forecast, according to the National Weather Service:

Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 52. Light and variable wind.

Wednesday: A chance of showers after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 75. East wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Wednesday night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 61. East wind 11 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 67. East wind 15 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday night: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 61. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 69. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

Friday night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Saturday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Saturday night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
