Remote Learning Set For Election Days In Toms River Schools

Remote instruction has been scheduled in the Toms River Regional Schools in November and June, the superintendent said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Students in the Toms River Regional School District will have remote instruction on Election Day in November, one of two virtual learning days under changes approved to the district's calendar Wednesday night.

The remote instruction has been scheduled so students are not in school while the buildings are in use as polling places, Superintendent Michael Citta said in announcing the changes.

Citta had hoped to convince Ocean County election officials to move polling places out of the schools.

"I was hopeful through the process we would finally get that completed before the beginning of this year and we were unable to do so," he said at Wednesday's board meeting.

Nov. 7, when the general election is held, and June 4, 2024, which is Primary Day for the 2024 general election, will be remote learning days. Both days are Tuesdays.
