Report: Toms River Prom Chaperones Accused Of Drinking Alcohol

The district is investigating reports that chaperones had been drinking, but whether it was before or at the event is unclear.

Officials in the Toms River Regional School District are investigating reports that chaperones for the Toms River High School North senior prom were drinking alcohol, according to a report.

Toms River Schools Superintendent David M. Healy confirmed the investigation to Townsquare Media News.

Healy told the Toms River Patch by email that his comments were limited to what he already had given to Townsquare Media.

“An investigation continues as we speak,” Healy said.

District officials say the allegations stem from Toms River North senior prom, which was held May 29 at Forrestal Village in Princeton, according to the gallery posted by Lors.

Healy told Townsquare Media none of the chaperones were seen drinking alcohol, but that it was brought to his attention that one or more of them were suspected of having been drinking.

Healy stressed his administration does not condone any such behavior, and that if in fact determined to be the case, would take whatever disciplinary action necessary.
