Route 37 Fight Stemmed From Road Rage Incident: Toms River Police

Video of two women punching each other in the middle of the road did not lead to charges from police, according to the police department.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — An alleged road rage incident led to a fight in the middle of Route 37 on Wednesday that disrupted traffic, Toms River police said.

Video of the fight, which has been making the rounds on social media, shows two women punching each other in the lefthand lane on the eastbound side of Route 37, near the Route 166 intersection.

Cars and SUVs can be seen pulling around the two women as the fight goes on, before a third woman finally tries to intervene.

The fight happened about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Jillian Messina, media relations specialist for the Toms River Police Department.

Police learned the fight started with an argument that happened after an alleged road rage incident. Police officers spoke with both women and told them how to file complaints, she said. No charges were filed based on the fight.
