TOMS RIVER, NJ — The J. Stanley Tunney Bridge will have lane closures beginning Monday for deck repairs to the bridge, state officials announced Friday.

This work is part of a $9.6 million statewide drawbridge preventative maintenance contract.

The work is scheduled for the daytime, with lane closures from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays for "a few weeks," the state Department of Transportation said.

One lane closure will begin at 7 a.m., and a second lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. while the contractor, PKF Mark III Inc., does the work. One lane of the three-lane bridge will remain open at all times, the NJDOT said.

The eastbound Thomas A. Mathis Bridge into Seaside Heights will not be affected, officials said. The work is expected to be completed by the end of October.
