Sam's Club Abruptly Closes NJ Locations
Sam's Club closed at least two New Jersey locations on Jan. 11, and several others across the nation.

Sam's Club closed at least two New Jersey locations on Jan. 11. The abrupt closures appear to affect locations nationwide, with local media reports indicating stores in many states have been shuttered. The company has not responded to repeated requests for information from Patch regarding exactly how many locations are on the chopping block.
We do know at least two locations in New Jersey have been impacted. Stores in Mount Olive and Linden have been shuttered. The status of a third is unknown: the Princeton location is closed as of Thursday, and a phone recording says it will reopen Friday but it has been completely omitted from the company's website.
"I was just informed that as of today, SAMS CLUB, Mount Olive is closed for good due to a business decision of the company," Mount Olive Mayor Rob Greenbaum said. According to his post, the pharmacy at that location will remain open through Jan 27.

Also impacted is the Linden store. A recording when you call that location says it is permanently closed, effective Jan. 11. It has been removed from the company's website as well. The closure took employees there by surprise, with one telling the Daily Record they were informed of the news during a 9 a.m. meeting on Thursday. Employees were told about the meeting late Wednesday night. (RELATED: Sam's Club In Linden Closes Abruptly)

In Princeton, a phone recording says the store is closed on Thursday, Jan. 11 and will reopen on Friday, Jan. 12. But the same outgoing message was left at Sam's Club locations that closed in other states on Thursday. The Princeton location was also removed from the store's corporate website. It is unclear exactly what the status is there. (RELATED: Sam's Club Closures: Is Princeton On The Chopping Block?)
The closures in the Garden State came the same day as dozens of others were shuttered across the nation. Sam's stores in Connecticut, Illinois, Michigan and Alaska have closed, according to media reports.
Sam's Club locations across the country appear to have shut their doors for good just as its owners announced they were raising their minimum hourly rate at Walmart to $11, crediting the recently passed tax cut.
It's unclear if the wholesale giant plans to reimburse membership dues in light of the closures.
