School Under 'Shelter In Place' Order After Toms River Bank Robbery

Children are safe and secure, police say

The West Dover Elementary School has been ordered to ”shelter in place” while Toms River police search for two suspects in a bank robbery, police spokesman Ralph Stocco said.

Two suspects robbed the Santander Bank at 721 Route 37 West around 9:30 a.m. and then ran on foot, crossing Route 37 and heading north, Stocco said.

“All children are safe and secure inside of the building until we have a resolution to this incident,” he said. “There is no specific threat to the school and we are doing this out of an abundance of caution.”
