Seaside Heights Cancels Fireworks, Big Joe Henry Ahead Of Storm

The potential for thunderstorms led to the cancellation.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ — If you were planning to head to Seaside Heights Wednesday evening for fireworks and the Big Joe Henry Variety Show, you'll need to modify your plans.

Seaside Heights officials said both the show and the fireworks are cancelled due to the probability of a severe thunderstorm, brought on as the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry push through the area. Read more: Severe Thunderstorm Watch, Barry Remnants In 19 NJ Counties

Seaside Heights officials said the fireworks, which are held weekly on Wednesdays through August, will not be rescheduled. Plans for the Big Joe Henry Variety Show returns Wednesday, July 24.

The borough is scheduled to host a David Bowie Tribute Concert on Thursday, July 18, at 7:30 p.m. at Blaine Avenue, and the "Drive-In Movie" at the Sumner Avenue parking lot is set for 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 19. "Dirty Dancing" will be shown.
