Seaside Heights Holding Easter Egg Hunt Today, Easter Parade Tomorrow

The egg hunt had been postponed due to predictions of snow last weekend.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ -- Organizers postponed the annual Easter egg hunt on the beach in Seaside Heights last week, and that delay has paid off, with a sunny, mild day on tap for egg hunters.

Saturday morning's chilly temperatures are expected to give way to a high in the low 50s about the time the hunt begins at 1 p.m. The free event was scheduled for last weekend, but the Seaside Heights Business Improvement District pushed it back when forecasters were calling for several inches of snow last weekend.

Tomorrow, Sunday, March 27, the organization will be hosting its annual Easter promenade. Registration for the "best dressed" contest begins at 10 a.m. on the boardwalk at the Franklin Avenue stage; judging begins at 1 p.m., according to the business improvement district's website.

Cash prizes will be awarded in several categories, and carnations will be handed out to the women as they stroll the boardwalk in their Easter finery. The Easter bunny will be handing out tickets to win one of 10 bicycles that will be raffled off while costume judging takes place. There also will be free face painting, balloon animals and more, organizers say.

The Easter egg hunt today, Saturday, March 26, is open to children up to age 10 and there will be a challenger area for kids with special needs. As many as 15,000 eggs have been buried in the sand, the organization says.

Radio station B98.5 will be in front of the Franklin Avenue Stage broadcasting live.
