POSTPONED: Toms River Pros Vs Heroes Football Game

The incessant rain forced the charity flag football game to be postponed, organizers said.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ — (Updated, May 19, 1:15 p.m.) The battle on the beach will have to wait. The Pros vs. Heroes flag football game to benefit the Toms River Police Foundation has been postponed due to the unrelenting rain.

The announcement was made shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday. Organizers said more details would be forthcoming.

The game is presented by the Jay and Linda Grunin Foundation, and Townsquare Media and Downs Ford are sponsors.

Townsquare Media had announced that New York Giants running back Joe Morris, one of the stars of the 1987 Super B0wl championship team, was going to be part of the event.

Vocal artist Jessie Chris will sing the national anthem, and Townsquare Media will be giving a pair tickets to see Taylor Swift perform in July at MetLife Stadium. The giveaway will be at the game and you must be there to win.

The field is just south of Casino Pier on the beach and the game begins at 2 p.m. Meet the players after the game as they will be interacting with the children and signing autographs.
