Severe Thunderstorms, Rain Possible Wednesday in New Jersey

The state could get soaked again Wednesday.

After more than an inch of rain fell across New Jersey Tuesday, the state could get soaked again Wednesday, and severe thunderstorms are a possibility in some areas, the National Weather Service says.

There's a chance of thunderstorms in northern New Jersey, some of which could be severe, from 3 p.m until midnight.

A total of an inch to an inch and a half of rain is expected to fall across New Jersey before the rain tapers off late Wednesday night, and then dry conditions will return for Thursday, with continued above-normal temperatures.

If you are on the road Wednesday morning, be aware that patchy dense fog could reduce visibilities to a quarter mile or less in spots. "Leave extra room between cars and use the low beam setting on your headlights," the NWS advises.

Indeed, a fog advisory is in place for most of the state.

Rain will move back into the area from southwest to northeast, mainly from mid-morning onward.

"Intensity should start off on the light side, but as weak low pressure starts to develop this afternoon and evening, rain will come down moderate to heavy at times," the experts at the NWS Forecast Office New York say.
