Toms River 2017 Christmas Tree Lighting Set

The celebration, organized by the Downtown Toms River business district, will include entertainment and photos with Santa.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The annual Toms River Christmas tree lighting celebration has been scheduled for Friday, Dec. 1, according to the Downtown Toms River business improvement district calendar.

The event begins at 5 p.m. and includes live entertainment by the Donovan Catholic chorus, Exit 82 Theatre Company, a magic show by the Amazing V, and the reading of "Twas the Night Before Christmas," by Mrs. Claus.

Santa Claus arrives by fire truck about 7 p.m. to help light the Toms River Christmas tree, which is in the courtyard between Town Hall and the Ocean County Library.

There will be photos with Santa after the tree lighting and hot chocolate and cookies for sale by Toms River Fire Company 1.

There also will be food and dessert trucks, and restaurants downtown will be open.
