Toms River East Opens Vs. Nebraska In Little League World Series
The Toms River East Little Leaguers, runners-up in the MidAtlantic Region, take on the Midwest champs to open the tournament.
WILLIAMSPORT, PA — After four days of practices and hanging around in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the Toms River East Little League all-stars finally get to take the field Thursday in the Little League World Series tournament.
Toms River East plays the Nebraska state champions from Hastings Little League at 5 p.m. The game is scheduled to be televised on ESPN. You can follow the play-by-play and boxscore on Gamechanger.
Toms River East, which was the runner-up in the Mid-Atlantic region, advanced to the Little League World Series because the international teams are not traveling this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Little League chose to instead take the champion and runner-up from each region instead to create a 16-team field.

The Toms River East team, which fell to Pennsylvania 10-3 in the Mid-Atlantic championship game on Saturday, was bused straight to Williamsport from Bristol, Connecticut. Little League has had strict protocols in place because of the pandemic.
The Toms River East players are: Adrian Bilotti, Calien Cimorelli, Steven Malato, Joey DiMeo, Carson Frazier, Cole Garrison, Thomas Intintola, Steven Malato, Jalen McLean, Max Mika, Dominic Roma, Dominik Sabatino, Chris Tennaro, and Jason Verderrosa.
