Toms River Firefighters Extricate Woman After Crash

East Dover and Silverton firefighters worked to extricate the woman, who was taken to the hospital, officials said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A woman had to be extricated from her vehicle following a crash on Sunday, fire company officials said.

The crash on Fischer Boulevard near Shore Boulevard happened about 3:45 p.m. Sunday, said Chief Joe Catapano of East Dover Fire Company.

Catapano and Silverton Fire Chief John Keating arrived and found the woman unresponsive and trapped in her vehicle, he said.

Firefighters from East Dover stabilized the vehicle and the driver side door and roof was removed with hydraulic rescue tools. Silverton firefighters also assisted with the extrication, and they were able to free her in 17 minutes, Catapano said.

The woman was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. The extent of her injuries were not known.

The crash remains under investigation.
