Toms River Holds 9/11 Remembrance Service (Photos, Video)
The 16th anniversary of the terror attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people was marked with bagpipes and prayers.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River firefighters, police, officials and residents gathered downtown on Monday to remember and honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Toms River Volunteer Fire Company 1 in conjunction with the Toms River Township District 1 and 2 Fire Officers Association, held the ceremony in front of the Firefighter's Memorial at the corner of Robbins and Washington streets in downtown Toms River.
Mayor Thomas Kelaher, Councilmen Kevin Geoghegan and Brian Kubiel, Freeholder Ginny Haines and Police Chief Mitch Little were among those in attendance. The Shamrock & Thistle bagpipers also participated. Listen to their performance below.
