Toms River: Most Heroin Overdose Deaths In Ocean County, 2014
The overall number of overdose deaths in Ocean County, however, is roughly half of last year's number. Narcan has saved at least 66 lives.

Toms River has the most heroin overdose deaths of any Ocean County town in 2014 - but the number of those victimized by the drug is sharply down from last year.
There have been 41 drug-overdose deaths to date, compared to 76 overdose deaths during the same period last year, according to Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
Sixty-six people have had overdoses reversed by Naloxone, better known as Narcan.

Narcan is an inhaled medication that can be given to a person who has overdosed on an opiate drug. Narcan temporarily reverses the effects of opium and allows a patient to survive until they can be treated in a hospital.
Toms River has had the highest number of heroin overdose deaths (7) and most overall drug-related deaths (10). Brick. However, has the most Narcan-related saves (13).
