Osorio was riding his motorcycle north on Fischer Boulevard when he hit the passenger side of a vehicle driven by Joseph Pichirallo, 35, of Toms River, in the area of Hazelwood Road, Messina said. Pichirallo was turning left into the parking lot of Bellcrest Plaza at the time, she said.

Osorio was thrown from the motorcycle on impact, she said.

The initial investigation indicated speed may have been a factor in the crash, Messina said. Osorio did not appear to be under the influence at the time of the crash, and he was wearing a helmet, she said.

The crash remains under investigation by Traffic Safety Officer PJ Gambardella, and there are citations pending, she said.
