Toms River North Duo Sign College Sports Letters

Doug Molnar is headed to Wagner for baseball, while Kevin Benson is going to Cornell for track and field.

Doug Molnar and Kevin Benson, seniors at Toms River High School North, have signed national letters of intent to continue their sports careers in college, the Toms River school district announced.

Molnar, who is preparing for the Mariners’ upcoming baseball season, is headed to Wagner College to play baseball. The 6-foot right-hander is a pitcher and a first baseman, according to a player profile on PerfectGame.com.

Benson, who throws the shotput and discus, will be part of the track and field team at Cornell University, where he also will study mechanical and aerospace engineering. He took first place in the shotput and second in the discus at the NJSIAA South Jersey Group IV championships last spring.
