Toms River Officials Monitoring New Storm Forecast

Though Toms River and Ocean County escaped the weekend's storm with little damage, another round is coming and officials are keeping watch.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River may have escaped most of the wrath of Friday's nor'easter but officials are keeping watch on the next storm that is predicted to hit the area sometime Tuesday.

The township and the town's Office of Emergency Management shared updates from the weekend that showed very minor impact to Ortley Beach from the Friday-Saturday nor'easter. Officials said that was due in part to the wind direction; the bulk of the wind in the Shore area was from the west northwest, officials said, which tamped down impact even with full moon tides.

The photos show barriers put in place to protect the beach access ramps with some sand washed up against them, but little impact to the dunes.
