The man, Mark E. Wixler, 39, of Kettle Creek Road, walked into the path of a car driven by Dina M. Pscolka, 43, of Old Bridge, Toms River police said Wednesday.
Pscolka was westbound on Indian Head Road in a white Chevy Optima and in the left-turn lane about 150 feet from the intersection with Route 9 when her car struck Wixler, who was crossing the road from the CVS parking lot, police said. Wixler was not in a crosswalk, police said.

Witnesses told police that Wixler, who was arrested in October on heroin charges after he was moonwalking in a convenience store, was wearing headphones as he crossed the road and stepped out from between two cars stopped at the light at Route 9 into the path of Pscolka's car.
Pscolka pulled over immediately, police said.
