TOMS RIVER, NJ -- More than $3,000 in gift cards and Toms River PBA blankets are on their way to Texas thanks to the collection efforts of the Toms River Police Department.

The police department is one of the collection points for the Shore 2 Help effort to help the residents of Beaumont, Texas, who are trying to rebuild their lives following the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.

"This week the Toms River Police Department sent their care package to the Beaumont Texas Police Department," the Toms River Police Department said in a post on Facebook. "To personalize the donations, the boxes were filled with PBA blankets donated by the Toms River Police Foundation, and along with over $3,000 in gift cards that we were able to purchase through the generous donations of our employees, the PBA, and the FOP (Fraternal Order of Police)."
