Toms River Receives $365K State Grant For Road Work
The grant is from the state Department of Transportation, part of $161 million being distributed to towns across the state.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River is set to receive $365,000 from the state Department of Transportation through the state's 2020 municipal aid grant program.
The grant is among more than $161 million in grants being doled out across the state for a variety of local transportation projects. The funding for the grants comes from New Jersey's Transportation Trust Fund, according to the state transportation department website.
Toms River's grant for $365,000 is for the elevation of Harbor Court, Canal Lane and Harbor Drive. All three are on the barrier island, in Normandy Beach and Ocean Beach.

The individual allotments to municipalities are based on proportions determined by the Department of Community Affairs, and the aid is allocated by county based a formula that considers population and municipal roadway miles.
