Toms River Schools Cancel Afterschool Activities Ahead Of Storm

The cancellations are in part because of the state of emergency issued because of the storm.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — All afterschool activities have been canceled Tuesday for the Toms River Regional School District due to the winter storm moving into the area.

All building rentals across the district are canceled as well for Tuesday night, district officials said.

"Y Kids, however, will remain as scheduled," the district said.

Gov. Phil Murphy issued a state of emergency ahead of the storm, which is anticipated to pack sustained winds of 35 to 45 mph and gusts of up to 65 mph.

High winds and the heaviest rain is anticipated to begin in the early evening, according to the National Weather Service.
