Toms River Schools, Town Hall Closed Thursday Due To Blizzard

The impending storm also is disrupting the trash and recycling schedule, officials said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Toms River Regional School District will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 4 due to the impending storm.

District officials announced the decision Wednesday night in the wake of a blizzard warning issued by the National Weather Service that includes predictions of wind gusting to 50 mph and potential whiteout conditions through 7 p.m. Thursday.

The school district has three emergency closure days built into the calendar.

Donovan Catholic High School and St. Joseph Elementary also are closed Thursday.

In addition to the schools, township officials announced Town Hall offices will be closed Thursday as well. Emergency services, public safety and essential personnel will be working, officials said.

All trash and recycling collections scheduled for Thursday will be delayed one day, officials said.

Residents are reminded to keep vehicles and other items out of the streets to allow for efficient plowing.
