Toms River Sets Christmas Tree Lighting, Plans Winter Wonderland
It's not just a one-night event this year. After Santa's visit, a winter village will take over the courtyard at Town Hall and the library.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — The courtyard between Town Hall and the Ocean County Library will transform into a winter wonderland for a weekend as Toms River holds its Christmas tree lighting to kick off the holiday season.
The tree lighting is set for Dec. 3, with festivities beginning at 5 p.m.

There will be music and live entertainment until Santa arrives, with the lighting at 7 p.m. Photos with Santa will be afterward, and hot chocolate and cookies will be sold to benefit Toms River Volunteer Fire Company 1.
On Dec. 4 and 5, the courtyard will become a Winter Village, with vendors, kids' activities, music and more, officials said. It will run from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. both days.

In addition, from Dec. 4-Dec. 20, downtown Toms River businesses will be participating in a Candy Cane Scavenger Hunt. Downtown businesses will hide a special candy cane inside their stores or in their window display.
Additional details on the scavenger hunt will be posted on the Downtown Toms River Business Improvement District website.
