Toms River Storm Damage: Reader Photos
Wednesday's fierce storm took down dozens of trees all over Ocean County and left thousands without electric service. Readers shared damage.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — About 2,500 Toms River residents were still waiting for electric service to be restored to their homes on Thursday, after a fierce storm ripped through Ocean County on Wednesday.
Jersey Central Power & Light was estimating its customers in Toms River would have their service restored by 6 p.m. on Friday. Crews worked through the night, removing trees and limbs and reconnecting wires that came down in the afternoon storm.
While cleanup continues, a number of readers sent in their photos of damage from the area, including trees on cars, trees that fell onto homes and others that were snapped off.

Carrie Fusella said a tree in her front yard on South Tiiu Court in the North Dover section came down "in a matter of seconds."
"The mail carrier had just delivered the mail within seconds of the tree falling, trapping her between the downed tree and the driveway," Fusella said. "She just missed getting hurt. Thank God no one was hurt on our street but there was much damage to clean up."

"We called the Toms River Municipal road department and they were there within 20 minutes. Awesome job of getting the tree cut to make road safe," she said, adding she and her family were cleaning up the remainder.
