Toms River Woman Ticketed, Nearly Hit Child Leaving Bus: Reports

The incident happened in November in Lakewood, according to the reports.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — A Toms River woman has received tickets in a November incident where police say she nearly hit a child getting off a school bus in Lakewood, according to a pair of reports.

The Toms River woman received tickets for reckless driving and for improper passing of a school bus, The Lakewood Scoop reported.

She was identified as Mariluz Diaz, 47, according to the Asbury Park Press.

Video published by the Lakewood Scoop of the November incident shows the school bus stopped and its lights flashing. The doors to the bus open and a girl is seen coming down the steps. Just before she is to step out, the vehicle passes the bus on the right, coming within inches of the bus door.

The girl was not physically injured but the Lakewood Scoop quoted her father as saying she was very shaken by the incident.

The Asbury Park Press reported Diaz has a January court date.
