Town Hall On Teen Drinking Includes Ocean County Law Enforcement

Law enforcement members from the Ocean County will discuss issues surrounding teen drinking; it's sponsored by the DART Coalition.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — It's sometimes seen as a rite of passage, or something "all kids do;" but is it wise?

A virtual town hall meeting Tuesday will take a look at the issues surrounding underage drinking. The event, arranged by the DART Prevention Coalition, will include a roundtable of law enforcement officers from around Ocean County.

The virtual town hall is from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

"Alcohol is the most commonly used substance by young people in the United States, with studies showing a relationship between underage drinking behaviors and the drinking behaviors of adult relatives, adults in the same household, and adults in the same community," the DART Coalition said in promotional materials for the event.

The panel will discuss the impact of underage drinking on youth and families, liabilities adults face for providing alcohol to minors and "innovative approaches their departments are implementing to help keep kids safe," the coalition said.
