Vigil For Domestic Violence Victims, Survivors Set In Toms River
The vigil aims to raise awareness of domestic violence and pay tribute to those who have escaped it, and those who have been victims.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — A vigil for domestic violence victims is set for Oct. 13 in Toms River, part of efforts to mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Ocean Partnership for Children is hosting the vigil, their third annual remembrance, at 6 p.m. Oct. 13 in front of their building at 36 Washington St.
The ceremony will honor the lives of victims and domestic violence and the resilience of survivors, and is scheduled to include speakers from the NJ Children’s System of Care, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Providence House and the Stephanie Nicole Parze Foundation. The event will be held rain or shine.

Ocean Partnership for Children received a proclamation from Toms River Mayor Maurice Hill and the Township Council at the Sept. 28 meeting in recognition of its efforts to raise awareness and help survivors.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month was launched nationwide in October 1987 as a way to connect and unite individuals and organizations working on domestic violence issues, including holding abusers accountable and creating and updating legislation to further those goals.
