The road has been a sore spot with residents and drivers for months; officials say it should be fixed by the end of the week.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — Potholes, be gone. Residents who have been waiting and begging for paving to repair a very rough drive are getting their wish, as Ocean County announced paving of Washington Street is set to be done.
Washington Street will be milled and paved from Lexington Avenue east to Haines Road, county officials said. The work is set to begin at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Earle Asphalt Company will be doing the $2.38 million project during the evening and overnight hours from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The work is expected to be completed in about four days.

"We are happy to get these improvements underway," said John P. "Jack" Kelly, director of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners. "Washington Street became a patchwork of paving after area utility companies performed needed upgrades to their service lines. Now that their work is done we can move ahead with plans to pave the road, curb to curb."
Washington Street will be open to motorists during the day but will have detours and alternative traffic patterns during the paving work.
