Water Main Break Disrupting Route 9 Traffic In Toms River

Water company crews are on the scene repairing the break, officials said. Motorists should exercise care and expect delays in the area.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River motorists are urged to be aware of a traffic shift on Route 9 on Thursday morning caused by a water main break.

SUEZ crews and contractors are working to repair the break that happened in the area of Route 9 and Stevens Road, said Jane Kunka, a spokeswoman for the water company.

"We’ve notified the customers in the area who will be affected by a temporary interruption of water service," Kunka said.

There are police at the site directing motorists through the work zone, she said. Motorists should slow down and expect delays in the area.

SUEZ is working to make the emergency repair as quickly and safely as possible, Kunka said.
