Woman Bites Sheriff's Officer During Hurricane Harbor Disturbance

JACKSON, NJ — An Ocean County Sheriff's Department officer was injured Sunday when he was bitten twice by a woman following a disturbance at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, officials said.

Synthea Gonzalez, 50, was charged with resisting arrest, aggravated assault on a police officer, obstruction, and refusal to submit to fingerprinting following the incident, the sheriff's office said. Her hometown was not provided.

Gonzalez and a group of friends were being thrown out of Hurricane Harbor when Ocean County sheriff's officers responded to assist Jackson police following a report of a disturbance at the park about 6:30 p.m., the sheriff's office said.

As Jackson police arrested one member of the group, Gonzalez, who was being held back by sheriff's officers, turned and bit a sheriff's officer twice, the sheriff's office said. She was arrested.

The sheriff's officer was taken to the hospital to have his injuries treated, and later returned to work, the sheriff's office said.
