Did you know that more than 60% of women regularly ignore their body’s warning signs?

We push through fatigue. We dismiss headaches. We blame stress for digestive discomfort. We accept hormonal shifts as “just getting older.”

But what if those symptoms aren’t random? What if your body is trying to speak to you?

When “Normal” Doesn’t Feel Normal

In today’s fast-paced world, women have become masters at overriding their bodies. We manage careers, households, ministries, businesses, and relationships — often at the expense of our own health. Digital overload, constant demands, and chronic stress have slowly desensitized us to the subtle cues that once guided us naturally.

I know this personally.

When I entered perimenopause, I felt the shifts immediately. My energy dropped in a way that felt different. My sleep changed. My mood felt unfamiliar. My body — the one I had known for years — suddenly felt unpredictable.

I went to my doctor expecting clarity. After testing, I was told everything was “normal.” I remember sitting there, trying to reconcile how something could be normal when I clearly did not feel like myself.

I left that appointment confused, frustrated, and honestly disheartened.

But deep down, I knew something powerful:

My body was communicating.

Learning a New Language

That moment marked a turning point. Instead of suppressing symptoms, I became curious about them.

I began praying differently.Listening differently.Paying attention to what I was eating, how I was sleeping, and how stress was affecting my body.

Instead of overriding the signals, I started asking a new question: “What is my body asking for?”

Sometimes the answer was simple — more hydration.Sometimes it was healthy fats like olive oil or flaxseed to support hormone production.Sometimes it was mineral-rich foods.Sometimes it was rest — real rest, not scrolling on my phone.Other times, it was stress reduction and spiritual grounding.

And slowly, something shifted.

I realized that my body was not working against me.It was working for me.

Your Symptoms Are Signals

Fatigue can signal nutrient depletion.Cravings can reflect blood sugar imbalance.Tension can reveal unprocessed stress.Sleep disturbances can point to cortisol dysregulation.Hormonal shifts can signal deeper metabolic transitions.

What we label as “annoying symptoms” are often intelligent messages.
Science confirms what many women intuitively know. Research shows that delaying care for symptoms like palpitations, fatigue, and sleep disturbances increases the likelihood of anxiety, metabolic dysfunction, and chronic disease over time.

But here’s the hopeful truth:

When you listen early, you protect your future health.

Listening Is a Skill

Listening to your body isn’t passive. It’s an active partnership between your mind, body, and spirit.
It requires:

  • Awareness
  • Reflection
  • Intentional response

Scripture reminds us that our bodies are temples — intentionally designed and worthy of care. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. That includes the wisdom built into our hormonal systems.
Hormones are not random. They are messengers. They respond to nourishment, stress, sleep, movement, and spiritual alignment.

When you nourish your body, manage stress, and honor its rhythms, you support estrogen balance, cortisol regulation, thyroid function, and metabolic health.
And energy begins to return.

A Gentle Invitation

So today, pause.

Take three deep breaths.Scan your body from head to toe.Notice tension. Notice fatigue. Notice what feels off.

Then ask gently: “What do you need?”

Start small.

One nourishing meal.

One earlier bedtime.

One glass of mineral-rich water.

One walk outside.

One prayer.

Small, consistent steps restore balance over time.
