3rd Place Winning Mega Millions Ticket Sold In Butler

The ticket had the potential to be worth a lot more than it was.

BUTLER, NJ— No one has won the $137 million dollar Mega Millions jackpot yet, but one Butler shopper is in for a nice surprise.

A 3rd place ticket, worth $5,000 was sold at the Speedway in Butler (1551 Route 23). It matched four of the five white balls and the gold Mega Ball.

The winning numbers were 11, 20, 40, 41 and 59. The Mega Ball was 15, and the Megaplier Multiplier was 05.

Two other third place tickets were sold:

  • Bergen County: Woodridge Wine and Liquor, 206 Hackensack St., Wood Ridge
  • Essex County: D’Allegro’s Pharmacy, 252 Walnut St., Newark

They could have been worth so much more. If the Megaplier option had been purchased, the $5,000 would have ballooned to $25,000.

22 other players matched four out of five white balls, winning $500 (one of those did have the Megaplier option, turning $500 into $2,500).

81,555 other tickets won NJ players $162,876 in prizes ranging from $1 to $250.

The next drawing is this Friday.
