KINNELON, NJ— 63 acres of woodland in Kinnelon has been bought for public preservation, the Morris County administrator announced Friday. Another 114 acres is currently pending.
The $1.6 million purchase will protect public drinking water and provide new recreation opportunities, the press release said. It's a mix of hardwood forrest, freshwater wetlands and support endangered and threatened species.
The tract backs up to Pequannock's Mountainside Park to the east, and Waughaw Mountain Greenway, a 1,000 acre park.
