KINNELON, NJ - The Kinnelon Borough Council will meet Thursday, May 21, at 7 p.m. to adopt the 2026 municipal budget and act on a slate of resolutions including a new water meter fee and a health benefits premium increase.
The council will hold a public hearing and vote on Ordinance 07-2026, which would allow the borough to exceed municipal budget appropriation limits and establish a cap bank for calendar year 2026. Councilmembers will then vote on Resolution 05.01.2026 to formally adopt the 2026 Kinnelon Municipal Budget.
Also on the agenda:
A public hearing and vote on Ordinance 06-2026, which would amend the borough's water code to establish a fee for manual meter readings.
Resolution 05.06.2026, authorizing health benefit premium increases for borough employees.
Resolution 05.04.2026, authorizing the mayor to enter into a settlement agreement with residents Allen and Carol Shenise.
Resolution 05.05.2026, authorizing the disposal of surplus property through GovDeals online auction.
Resolution 05.07.2026, authorizing a refund of the municipal portion of a handgun carry permit fee.
The council will also act on the appointment of Eric Colvin as Kinnelon Borough Administrator, along with the appointment of Lou Izenberg of BBG Real Estate Services and Liana Bassin to the Environmental Committee.
Proclamations recognizing Buddy Poppies for the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post 154, and National Public Works Week, are included on the consent agenda.
The borough's school tax payment of $3,510,791 is also scheduled for approval.
The meeting will be held at Kinnelon Borough Hall.
