BUTLER, NJ — Halloween is approaching, and a Butler cemetery will provide the setting for a spooky evening of local history.
The Historic Manning Avenue Cemetery Walking Tour is scheduled for Oct. 24 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The walking tour will take visitors through historic Manning Avenue Cemetery while sharing stories about some of Butler's early residents.
Visitors will get a Halloween-themed glimpse into the town's past as guides recreate the lives and deaths of some of its most notorious former residents.
The event is part of the Morris County Historical Society's Walking Tour Series, which runs from April through October and features nearly 40 guided tours exploring the history of almost two dozen Morris County communities.
Participants should meet at the Butler Museum 15 minutes early, and sturdy shoes and flashlights are recommended.
The event will be held rain or shine, and pre-registration is required, with only a few tickets remaining.
