BUTLER, NJ — Residents affected by a boil water advisory can stop boiling their tap water after officials confirmed repairs were completed and water quality testing showed the water was safe.
The Butler Water Department lifted the advisory Saturday at 7 p.m., following a water main break that prompted the precautionary notice Thursday.
According to the Butler Water Department, customers are encouraged to run their faucets for three to five minutes.
Officials also recommend emptying and cleaning automatic ice makers and water chillers.
Hot water heaters set below 113 degrees Fahrenheit should be drained and refilled.
Customers with water softeners or cartridge filters should follow the manufacturer's recommended servicing procedures.
Water reservoirs in tall buildings should also be drained and refilled, if applicable.
"We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience," the department said.
Residents with questions can call the water department at 973-838-7200.
