Bloomingdale Police Investigating Brush Fire

Police said fire broke out twice near Kasper's Inn on Hamburg Turnpike.

are investigating a brush fire police and fire officials responded to at 4:35 p.m. Friday on Hamburg Turnpike near Kasper's Inn.

According to police, a section of Hamburg Turnpike was blocked off until the extinguished the fire and cleared the scene. Sgt. Michael Boffa, Sgt. Mark Gildersleeve, Ptl. Daniel Fletcher and Ptl. Steven Smith responded to the initial fire, but police said at 6:09 p.m., Ptl. David Terpstra and Ptl. Kevin Peirsel responded back to the scene where the fire had reignited.

The Bloomingdale Fire Department responded to the scene again and extinguished the fire, during which time Hamburg Turnpike was blocked off again.

Police said the cause of the fire is unknown and that there were no injuries reported. The fire did not spread to the business, police said, but the building was damaged due to the proximity of the fire.
