Butler Bridge Repair Pushed Back To Spring

Officials said the cold could hamper the repair process.

BUTLER, NJ — Repairs on the 88-year-old Main Street Bridge in Butler have been pushed back to the spring, county officials said, citing the possibility of snow and low temperatures.

Special tools are needed to repair the bridge that won't work as well in the cold, officials said. Having asphalt removed when it snows also creates issues.

First built in 1929, the bridge is heavily used. Water seeping through cracks has caused structural damage, county officials said. Repairs will include removing the asphalt and applying a waterproofing membrane.
