Butler VFW Ladies' Auxiliary to Close After 60 Years
Decreasing membership, dwindling finances lead to closing.

A Butler institution with more than 60 years of history will shut down.
The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars George P. Siek Tri-Boro Post 8096, will shut down due to a “precipitous” drop in public participation and lack of funds, NorthJersey.com reported Thursday.
The post, which had about 125 members on its roll at one point, has seen that number decline to about 80 in recent years, the website reported.

"We don't have many Iraq and Afghanistan veterans joining the [VFW] Post anymore, and as a result, we don't have their wives or sisters joining the auxiliary,” Peggy Spranzani told the website.
The rest of the funds the auxiliary has in its treasury will be donated to cancer aid organizations, the report stated.
