UPDATE: Bad Brakes Causes Vehicle to Hit House
Neighbor said he heard 'screeching of the tires, then a bang.'
Police said a preliminary report determined faulty brakes to be the cause of an accident Friday in which a 26-year-old male crashed a sport utility vehicle he was driving into a home on Maple Lake Road in Butler.
"[The brakes] were somewhat not in good condition, which had a direct bearing on the accident," Butler Police Capt. Ciro Chimento said Monday.
The driver, Raymond Faulkner, of Kinnelon, was transported to Chilton Memorial Hospital Friday with minor injuries to his arm.

said the Faulkner was the only person in the car and that no one was inside the home at the time, but the father of the owner of the home said a housekeeper was inside at the time of the incident.
Butler Police Sgt. Robert Findura was on the scene at 2:30 p.m.

"The driver was traveling down Maple Lake Road and veered off into the house," Findura said.
Sanjiv Jain, a neighbor who lives across the street, was the first to call 911 after he saw the vehicle crashed into the home from his home office window.
"I heard the screeching of the tires, then a bang, then I heard a loud bang," Jain said. Jain said he was unsure what the first bang was, but he was confident that the second loud bang was the noise from the impact of the vehicle hitting the home.
Jain said the crash occurred at about 2:15 p.m.
Jain said he noticed cuts on the Faulkner's arm. was also on the scene to assist with injuries.
Chimento said the vehicle was totaled in the accident. Faulkner was issued a summons for failing to possess a valid insurance card.
