Cover Butler In Flags: Borough Plans Dual Anniversary Ceremony June 20
Organizers are seeking volunteers and flag donations as Butler celebrates the nation's 250th birthday and the borough's 125th.
BUTLER, NJ — Butler will honor two milestones at once this month — the 250th anniversary of the United States and the 125th anniversary of the borough — with a ceremony and community flag-placing effort on Saturday, June 20.
The event begins at 8:30 a.m. at Butler Park, rain or shine, with a ceremony honoring the men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the nation's freedom.
Following the ceremony, volunteers will walk Kiel Avenue and Bartholdi Avenue, placing American flags along both streets. Organizers are also urging residents across the borough to take part by placing their own flags on their lawns.
