Ferati's Pizza Spends Their First Year in Butler

Owner has been operating under Ferati's Pizza for a year, but also owned the previously named Aroma Pizza.

has been open for about a year, but owner Al Ferati had taken over Aroma Pizza, the previous pizza restaurant at 2 Boonton Ave., and transitioned the pizzeria into what we now know as Ferati’s. The family also owned pizzerias in other areas before settling in Butler.

Ferati’s Pizza sits on the corner of the street but parking is available. Although delivery was not available at first, the restaurant has since started delivering for free. Ferati’s is a small pizzeria but with enough tables to sit down and eat at the restaurant. There are many specialty pizza pies available, along with a menu of Italian dishes, subs and salads.

During my visit, my guest had ordered the mussels ($7), which are also available in a Hot and Spicy flavor. My guest was pleasantly surprised when he noticed the green around the mussels, knowing they were New Zealand Mussels, which are known to be some of the best mussels a restaurant can serve. He was happy with the top quality and enjoyed the flavorful sauce, which was spicy enough to satisfy.

Both my guest and I also had the old fashioned Boylan’s Root Beer and Birch Beer to drink, both available by the counter. I like seeing restaurants carry the old fashioned glass bottles. I feel nostalgic every time I drink one of them.

For our meals, my guest went with the Gyro Deluxe ($7.25) and I had ordered the Potato, Egg and Cheese Sandwich ($6). I could tell the Potato, Egg and Cheese was well seasoned because I could see the seasoning on the sandwich, however the pepper did overpower the meal just a tad. The potatoes was delicious though and I enjoyed the way they were cooked. Still, I felt the sandwich needed a bit more egg and a little less potato.

Owner Al Ferati said that his pizzeria is different from the others in and around town because, “We try our best to make customers happy. We use a lot of fresh ingredients.” By the fresh mussels and the taste of the bread on my sandwich, in my opinion, Ferati’s appears to stand by their word.

Everything tasted fresh and was completely satisfying. Although Al is usually cooking in the back, his brother Mike can be found managing the counter.

The pizzeria's prices are not too expensive, in my opinion, but you can find an even better deal on pizza on Monday and Tuesday nights, when a cheese pie costs just $8.99. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Street Parking is available. Ferati’s Pizza is located at 2 Boonton Ave. in Butler.
